All jewelry is handcrafted in my studio using sterling or fine silver, copper, brass, semi-precious gemstones, crystals, and resin. Ear wires and clasps are all handcrafted using sterling silver.
I use a variety of tools such as acetelyne torch, various hammers, kiln, disc cutter, and dapping block, to name just a few.
Stay tuned for future tutorials!
Gemstones have always been symbols of wealth, power, and authority. Kings put them in crowns, shields, swords, and jewelry. Adornment was not the only purpose for wearing them. Gemstones were thought to have many powers for healing and influencing future well being. They were given mystical powers and believed to possess life, old age, disease, and death. They even could become part of the body and soul of the wearer.

Sterling silver is 97.5% pure silver, with the remainder being made up of an alloy - usually copper. The copper in sterling silver is what causes it to tarnish over time, due to the oxidation that happens when copper is exposed to air.
Fine silver is 99.9% pure silver; the remaining .01% are naturally occurring impurities. Fine silver will not tarnish due to the absence of any alloys mixed with it.
